If you have been on YouTube in the past week and have been paying attention to the comment section at all, I am sure you are quite annoyed. It used to be fun to skim some of the top comments on videos you watch, but now it is nothing more than a joke. All you will see now is marked with either spam comments or this:

Well, YouTube recently changed its comment section to incorporate Google+. This forces individuals to connect their YouTube account to an actual name. Being known for offensive comments, this surely changed up the usage of the comment area. Individuals statuses on Google+ now show up on the comments and can often confuse individuals as to what they are talking about along with limiting the amount of people who effectively engage.
Aside from the Google+ connectivity, it seems their comment section algorithm has changed. How top comments are ranked is definitely different, leaving the ability for spam much easier. This allows those “You will get kissed by your favorite person if…” or “You will die if…” comments to rank high and show up everywhere.
Though the spam is overwhelming, it seems Bob’s army is taking over. You cant go anywhere on YouTube without seeing dozens of soldiers everywhere. I suspect Google will take the hint soon and wave the white flag to Bob and his massive army.
Update:
It seems Bob was common in YouTube’s past when spam was unable to be marked. This update in the algorithm brought back his insurgency. Just found this little video as well:
