When Rob recently left for his Off the Grid Across America cycling adventure, he had to make sure he still stayed connected to the outside world. Aside from the obvious need for electricity to power the camera equipment, Rob needs to be able to use his laptop and cell phone as required. Without the ability to keep in touch with employees and clients, The Greenfield Group would likely start to deteriorate. Luckily, there is a company like Goal Zero that exists, allowing for Rob to stay off the grid, but not out of the loop.
Goal Zero specializes in easy-to-use portable solar power products. While most solar panels are used on homes and other stationary devices, Goal Zero makes it possible for you to charge your electronics whether you are tailgating, in an emergency, or cycling across the nation.
There are not many green portable charging devices that can actually pack a punch. Whenever Rob would use his smaller solar charging devices for his cell phone, it would require a two day charge just to get the phone to half power. This is not enough juice for living off the grid for over 3 months.
Since Rob, and The Greenfield Group as a whole, has a sustainability mission, partnering with companies like Goal Zero is exactly what we need. Rob is now able to show off some of these great technologies in use while on the road, and hopefully convince others to find alternative sources of energy.
While on his trip, Rob is using the Boulder Solar Panel and the Extreme Power Pack to stay powered and the Rock Out Speakers to keep the music blasting throughout the 4,500 miles. The Boulder 30 Solar Panel can charge the Extreme 350 Power Pack in under 12 hours. That Extreme 350 Power Pack can then power a cell phone for over 350 hours! This combination of power is more than enough electricity for Rob. Goal Zero was kind enough to sponsor Rob throughout this trip, and without their donations, this adventure done exactly this way would be impossible.
Since leaving 12 days ago, Rob has been able to blog nearly every day, connect with followers on Facebook, keep in touch with employees, and make sure business is running smoothly all without producing a single pound of carbon dioxide.
Rob will continue to use these products for the remainder of the trip. He will write about any hiccups he has with the products he is using, and how he is surviving at the Greenfield Adventures Blog. It’s thanks to great companies like Goal Zero that give Rob hope for the future of this planet.
